Computer-based Testing Starts Early
Certification The AACE Certification Board has announced the transition to computer based testing (CBT), effective immediately (see announcement. Therefore, there will be no paper/pencil examinations proctored by the East Tennessee Section in December.

Computer-based testing was to begin in 2013, but due to "significant progress" has been started early.

Project Management Certifications Compared
Certification A pretty thorough comparison of project management-related certifications from a number of associations (AACE, PMI, 4 others) has been published by Paul Giammalvo. See the two related links on this page. There is a narrative link and also a link to a spreadsheet and chart.

While no evaluation is completely unbiased, it is an interesting read. Different AACE certifications range from near-easiest to the hardest to obtain, by the way.

Certification class has been cancelled
Certification Only a couple of people signed up for the certification class this weekend, so the class has been cancelled. We'll probably offer the class again this Fall.

CCC/CCE Certification Class in Oak Ridge
Certification The AACE East Tennessee Section will be hosting a review course for the CCC/CCE certification exam. The review course is scheduled for three days and will be held on April25th, May30th and May31st at the UT Outreach Center in Oak Ridge. The cost is $200 which includes two reference books: (1) CCC/CCE Certification Study Guide, 3rdEdition and (2) Skills & Knowledge of Cost Engineering, 5thEdition. The cost is $100 without the reference books.

Certification testing in the Knoxville area
Certification Todd Corwin, ETS Director of Education, tells us that the East Tennessee Section is one of the hosts for the AACEI Certification Exams to be held on June 14, 2008. The deadline for early registration is Monday, May 5th. Details for the test location in Oak Ridge, TN will be provided to the applicants by email.

Exams include Certified Cost Engineer/Consultant, Earned Value Professional, Planning and Scheduling Professional, and Certified Forensic Claims Consultant Engineer. See for details and applications for the certification exams.
